When I’m doing a child’s cut, I always let them choose the color of the comb. It makes them feel more involved, and it’s no effort on my part. I have a wide selection of neon colors: yellow, green, orange, and pink, along with a few plain black and one boring old gray one.
Today I had a little 5 year old who didn’t want to be getting her hair cut. When I offered her the color choice, she chose gray. I’ve never had anyone choose gray before. But she was happy with it, and let me cut her hair with no fuss. So, whatever works!
